frequently asked questions

  • 1. How long will it take to learn a new language?

It all depends on how much time you invest. If you spend an hour a day practicing, you will be able to speak the language in a year and a half. If you only do your work in class, it will take much longer.

  • 2. Can I be fluent in a year and a half?

Probably not fluent, but you will definitely be able to hold a conversation.

  • 3. What if I know that I am not good at learning a language?

If the student’s perception is that they are “not good”, we invest a lot of time figuring out what will make that student excited. Many times, “not good” really means “not interested.” So, how do you make someone enthusiastic? There are people who are total movie buffs. They may not do well in class so we have them watch foreign movies. They read the subtitles and pick up a lot through their ears. Then we discuss the movie and start the learning process from that point. There are students who are “foodies”. They cannot speak the language, but they can read a menu with perfect pronunciation. For them we may start their foreign language education with a unit that incorporates their favorite words. We also have students who are musically inclined, can sing in Italian, but are not able to have a day-to-day conversation. In this case, we take what they know and create dialogues with the vocabulary they have already acquired. We can assure you, THEY LOVE IT!

The bottom line is that there is a way for ANYONE TO LEARN a foreign language and we will take the time to help you find your way.

  • 4. How long have your teachers been living in the United States?

On average, our teachers have been living in the United States for ten years.

  • 5. What kind of experience do your teachers have?
